Scratched horses

If a horse is scratched, all Win/Place/Show bets will be refunded and the portion of Exacta/Trifecta/Superfecta/Quinella Combos that contain the scratched horse will be refunded.

Daily Doubles:

If the Scratch is in the first leg there is a refund for all combinations involving the scratched runner. If the scratch is in the second leg, after the start of the first leg, there is no refund, but if the winner was selected in the first leg there will be a consolation payout for the scratch in the second leg. If the scratch is in the second leg prior to the start of the first leg the combination with the scratched runner will be refunded. If the winner was not played in the first leg, it is a losing ticket with no refund.

For Pick 3's and Pick 4's BookMaker uses the same rules and payouts as the track regarding consolations and ALL's when there are early and late scratches.

Pick 3:

In all states and Fort Erie except NY, KY, FL, CA, DE*, and WV, the post-time favorite is substituted for the scratched runner. In NY, KY, FL, CA, DE*, and WV there is a refund if the horse(s) scratches before the start of the first leg (once the final leg is declared official). If the horse(s) scratches after the start of the first leg, there will be a consolation payout. In NY and DE this applies to thoroughbred tracks. Harness tracks substitute the post-time favorite for scratched runners.

At Fair Grounds (in LA), they will refund the wager if the scratch is in the first leg and substitute the post-time favorite if the scratch was in a subsequent leg.

Pick 4, Pick 5, Pick 6, Place Pick All, and Grand Slam:

The post-time favorite is substituted for the scratched runner.

Below are the rules for instances where the surface has changed (i.e. Dirt changed to Turf, etc.). Certain states and specific tracks may change their ruling before a race has gone off.

In some cases, a change in surface may declare a race an "all win" for specific wager types.

New York Main Track to Turf move - Pick 4, Pick 6, and Grand Slam

When the condition of the turf course(s) warrants a change of racing surface in any of the legs of the Pick 4 and/or Pick 6, and such change has not been known to the public prior to the close of wagering for the Pick 4 and/or Pick 6, the stewards shall declare the changed leg(s) an "all win" race for Pick 4 and/or Pick 6 wagering purposes only. An "all win" race will assign the winner of that race to each Pick 4 and/or Pick 6 ticket holder as their selection for that race.

Kentucky and California Tracks Turf Course Surface Change - Pick 4 and Pick 6

When the condition of the turf course warrants a change of racing surface in any races of the Pick 4 or Pick-6, and such change has not been disclosed to the public prior to "off time" of the first race of the Pick-6, the stewards shall declare the changed races an "all win" race for Pick 4 or Pick-6 wagering purposes only.

Florida Tracks Turf Course Surface Change - Pick 4, pick 5

When the condition of the turf course warrants a change of racing surface in any races of the Pick 4 or Pick-5, and such change has not been disclosed to the public prior to "off time" of the first race of the Pick-4 or 5, the stewards shall declare the changed races an "all win" race for Pick 4 or 5 wagering purposes only.

If a horse runs for Purse Money Only, track payout rules are followed, as determined by the host track.

If a horse is inadvertently shown as scratched in the wagering menu but runs, there will be no refunds given for any wagers made in said race.

In cases where a wager is made before early scratches are announced your wager will NOT BE REFUNDED. If your wager has scratches they will be treated as early scratches.
